Lucero has been granted a project by the European initiative, MedPhab, to accelerate the development of its novel microfluidic well plates with the help of partners, Joanneum Research and The Technical Research Center of Finland (VTT).
The goal of the project is to prepare Lucero for its acceleration phase by developing new, scalable manufacturing methods for a unique microfluidic well plate. The well plate will be tailored to enable the use of 3D cell culture (spheroids) at scale in a pharmaceutical high-throughput drug screening environment.
This project is important to Lucero, since switching from manual, small-scale fabrication to automated procedures requires drastic changes in manufacturing techniques. Our partners, JOR and VTT, will fill this gap by providing the necessary manufacturing processes and expert knowledge in developing such techniques. – Rich Zapata Rosas, Co-founder of Lucero
About MedPhab
Medphab is a European initiative that aims to accelerate the latest photonics technologies for medical applications. The purpose of MedPhab pilot production line is to accelerate the commercialisation and reduce the R&D costs of diagnostic devices and instruments based on photonics technology.
